Executive Director Lennie Shelton Presents the 2025 Student Chamber Scholarships to Heidi Morris and MaKinley Roberts.
The Benton High School Student Chamber is an exciting and engaging group of students who are learning the importance of leadership, service, and philanthropy. These young leaders actively participate in a wide range of civic-minded activities throughout the year that give back to their local community and help develop lifelong skills in community engagement and responsibility.
In 2025, the Benton/West City Area Chamber of Commerce proudly awarded $1,500 in Student Chamber Scholarships to support graduating seniors in their pursuit of higher education or career training. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated exemplary achievements not only in academics but also in community service. Many of these students are actively involved in various clubs and organizations, volunteering their time to help with events such as the Rend Lake Car Show, the Chamber/Rotary Golf Scramble, the Annual Chamber Dinner, and the Rend Lake Water Festival. Their dedication also extends to supporting efforts by other groups like the Lions Club and assisting with numerous sports activities throughout the year.
This scholarship is made possible through the generous support of AGE's Central & Southern Illinois Chamber of Commerce Electricity & Natural Gas Buying Group, sponsorship efforts, and proceeds from the annual Benton Chamber/Rotary Golf Scramble.
