The November business of the month is MidCountry Bank. They are located at 605 West Main in Benton. We sat down with Branch Manager, Theresa Hampton, to learn more about the bank and their deep community roots.

Established in 2003, MidCountry Bank is a privately held, full-service community bank. Their 23 locations provide a regional presence in Minnesota, Southern Illinois, and Nevada where their team members are engaged in their communities and serve both consumer and business customers.  They have 8 locations serving the Southern Illinois area which specialize in personal and corporate banking with departments dealing with investments, leasing, commercial, retail, loans, and traditional accounts.  The MidCountry Bank branch serving the Benton/West City area started in West City, and in 2006 they merged with South Point Bank and moved to their current location.

Although the bank headquarters is in Georgia, the company is committed to local community efforts and support causes which effect their employees. An example is the recent Community Day on October 23rd, which was themed ‘Pink Out’ and a raffle, benefited an employee’s cancer battle. Other branches have chipped in with ‘Jeans’ Day’ to raise additional funds for this staffer and to further support bank employees across the MidCountry corporate area. Hampton explained, ‘We try and enjoy ourselves as much as we can so to support each other and the community.’

Various Benton MidCountry staffers are also involved with Kiwanis and Mentors for Kids Franklin County. Each branch has a focus for their community outreach funds, and for this branch, much of their efforts go to benefiting children through organizations such as CASA and the Giving Tree project. In need children and their families are not their only interest, for Benton Consolidated High School graduating seniors, they pass out goodie bags which includes gifts from local businesses to build and encourage the next generation of business leaders. They also give ‘Core Value Award’ scholarships with the assistance of Mr. A to students that exhibit the 5 core values of MidCountry Bank: integrity, honesty, fairness, compassion, and excellence. ‘It is so important to support the community.’ Hampton said. ‘And in between – we do banking.’
